18th Edition (April ’23) –
“All-India Box”
The 18th edition – June 2023 – is an All-India Box. As such, it offers a representative cross-section of teas from different seasons and regions of origin within India. The range of seasons extends from spring picking (“First Flush”) to summer picking (“Second Flush”) to “Autumnals” (“Autumn Flush”). And in regard to different regions of origin within India, the box brings teas from Darjeeling, Assam and Bihar under one roof.
Accordingly, the box contains 20g each of the following 5 types of tea, differiug in picking time and geographic origin within India:
1. Ringtong Darjeeling FF Spring Blessing
The early first flush of the sustainably operating Ringtong tea garden is a typical product of modern first flush processing in Darjeeling. As such, it focuses on emphasizing the teas of this picking´s specific spring character. Accordingly, the tea caresses the tea drinker’s senses with a captivating scent of fresh flowers and delicately sweet notes. On the palate, the golden-yellow infusion unfolds harmonious nuances of muscatel and gentle grassy undertones into a deliciously complex taste profile.
2. Royal Tippy Latumoni Assam SF
Latumoni is the name of a small, family-run tea garden in Assam, northeast India. Here, tea is still grown in a close-to-nature way and without industrial aids. The estate’s summer flush offers a fullbodied taste with pronounced chocolate and coffee notes embedded in spicy sweetness. Close-to-nature cultivation, handpicking and traditional processing make this tea a true artisan Assam black tea.
3. Doke, Bihar – Black Fusion
Doke Black Fusion Black Tea is the the flagship of health and environment-friendly Doke Tea Garden in Bihar, India. The cornerstones of the philosophy of the family business run by Rajiv Lochan, a pioneer of modern tea cultivation in India, with his wife and children, are quality, social responsibility and ecological sustainability. It is this philosophy that, together with the power of the Assam cultivars cultivated in Doke, Bihar, brings us this highly individual black tea, full-bodied in taste, with balanced roasted notes and fine, malty-complex sweetness.
4. Sri Sibbari Assam Autumnal
A veil of sweet mildness covers the teas opf the autumn flushes like a pastel-amber cloth. New facets, previously overlayered by the spicy aromas of spring and summer are coming to surface. And indeed, the taste of Sree Sibbari Assam Autumn Flush has much of the aromatic fragrance of autumn leaves, well-seasoned precious woods, and rich, dark earth. These notes are carried by a mild, but omnipresent sweetness melting all flavors involved into one experience of delightful harmony.
5. Giddapahar Darjeeling Muscatel SF
As characteristic for the estate’s teas, Giddapahar Imperial Muscatel Second Flush pleases the palate with downright sublime harmony and balance. This translates to a particularly round and soft mouthfeel that covers one’s gums like a velvety clove, making Giddapahar’s second flush with its characteristic muscatel note a tea for almost any occasion… And a second flush that for friends of black teas from Darjeeling’s summer picking leaves nothing to wish for.
